The
HotPot
solar
oven comes
with
the large heavy duty black enameled
steel pot and glass cooker that is pictured above. This pot is part of
the cooker. The Hot Pot solar cooker is
a large thick clear tempered glass bowl, fitting snugly
inside the glass is a strong black steel pot surrounded the glass
cooker.
There is 1/2”
between the metal and the glass allowing a small pocket of air space to
surround the pot for added heat retention. The sun penetrates
the transparent
glass, strikes
the black pot,
and converts to heat that is retained inside the glass bowl. On a sunny
day, a quart of water will boil in less than an hour, a
four pound chicken will cook in about two hours in a Hot Pot. The
cooker
rests inside a super shiny anodized
aluminum metal
reflector, which is composed of
several panels riveted together that easily fold out to capture the
direct and

energy of the sun. The sturdy reflector with its

The
Sportster cooks everything,
it
just cooks it a little more slowly because it cooks at a milder
temperature
than the than ovens with reflectors. Some people prefer not using
reflectors and
cooking at a lower temperature. This oven is extremely
easy to use, just put it out
in the backyard, take it along to your event or sport, solar cook your
food and forget about it for 2 to 5 hours
and come back and
the
food is done! It will not overcook food because the temperature stays
more
moderate, like cooking in a solar crock pot all day! Generally a 1 1/2
quart pot of rice
will cook in 1 1/2 to 2 hours and a chicken
will
usually bake in 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Will pasteurize water from a stream

The
24/7 electric back-up system is an energy efficient state of the art
revolutionary system which uses

amperage infrared heaters
that typically use 75% less
electrical energy than your standard in-house oven!!

A great well thought out quality design and materials ~ three
adjustable legs as the base and
a semi circle support holds the Parabolic Dish and swivels
and spins on
it's axis base side to side and and pivots up and down to easily focus
the sun on the cooking area.This is a deep dish Parabola, so it can be
smaller
than most other Parabolic Cookers -
42 inches in diameter.
There is a unique Shadow Indicator Bolt on the side that works kind of

sell this handy lightweight cover, if you would like
to use a lightweight protective cover. It is made of durable
polyester with a sewn in elastic band on the bottom. It is treated with
UV
treated to resist sun damage. It is meant as a protective cover to
protect from dust and the elements and to cover the beam of light from
shining in peoples eyes, especially children walking by it when it is
not in use, and to protect the area from fire danger. This cover is
slightly water repellent, but not meant as protection from the rain, a
heavy duty water repellent tarp works best for rain protection. Must
be
secured tightly in windy sitiuations to fully cover the entire shiny
surface of the Parabolic at all times. Hand

Using
the Solar Oven Tracker permits
unattended operation
of the Sun Oven all day long. It is designed to be used with the Sun
Oven, but
some of our customers
have used it
with our other Solar Ovens.
The solar oven tracker follows the
path of the
sun and rotates your
solar
oven
throughout the day. Since the oven is
always properly adjusted at the
right angle to achieve the highest
possible temperature, this
allows for faster cooking without manually adjusting your oven as the
Sun moves across the sky. Simply place
your
Solar Oven on the lazy susan style sturdy handmade
painted wood
platform. It is self powered by a
small solar panel that directly drives a small solar powered motor
connected
to one of the
3 wheels that moves the platform and the solar cooker in a circular
motion to follow the Sun. It works on any flat level surface,
placed on
the ground on your patio or
driveway work best or you can use a
piece of plywood on the ground or lawn. You can also use a
very large
table or put a piece of plywood on top of your table.

Anything you can cook in a conventional electric or gas oven can be
cooked
in
a Solar Oven. You can bake, boil and steam using any of your
favorite
recipes.
Food tastes much better than food cooked in a conventional oven! Solar
cooking
allows many of the natural flavors of food, which get baked out in
conventional
ovens,
to remain. The slow, even rise in temperatures in a Solar Oven gives
the
complex
carbohydrates time to break down into simple sugars allowing subtle
natural
flavors
to emerge. Sun baked foods stay moist, the natural internal
juices
do not bake out,
resulting in a superior, moist taste and much less shrinkage.
Dark, thin walled pots or tinted glass casserole dishes with lids work
best. Dark pots
change the light from the sun into heat energy. Lids are important
because
they hold
steam in the pot. If a lid is not used the steam will dissipate much of
the heat. Shiny
aluminum pots and pans cause light to be reflected out thereby reducing
the oven's temperature.
For baking cakes, breads, cookies, and pies, dark cookie
sheets
and
baking tins work best.
No stirring is necessary to prevent scorching
when
cooking in a Solar Oven
due to the fact that there are no hot spots. The temperature of
the food rises evenly.
It is almost impossible to burn food in a Solar Oven. Never a
danger
of fire.
Solar Ovens can be used in winter as well as summer!
The most important factor is the brightness of the day. A clear,
low humidity
day
will allow food to cook faster than a 100 degree day
with high humidity. Solar Ovens have been used very successfully
at the base camp of a Mt. Everest expedition where the temperatures are
often
well below zero. There are, however, more cooking hours available in
the
summer than in the winter. In the early summer, it is not unusual to
cook
from
8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, whereas during the early winter, effective cooking
is
limited to 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

than 6,000 fires, over 5 fatalities, more than 170 injuries, and $35
